Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) today is pleased to announce the ITA Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis Team, Singles and Doubles Rankings for December 18th.
Starting with the ITA Team Rankings, defending champion Alabama leaves the fall as the No. 3-ranked team in the country just behind Michigan (No. 1) and Arizona (No. 2), each of which defeated the Crimson Tide in match play earlier this spring. For the Wolverines, they brought in Jacob Wald from Virginia as a graduate transfer and are the only team to have two players placed in the fall ITA Singles Rankings.
Just a few weeks after the ITA Collegiate Wheelchair Singles National Championship in Orlando, back-to-back champion Francesco Felici (Alabama) will maintain his No. 1 ranking at the collegiate level, just above Max Wong (Arizona) and Michigan duo Caiden Baxter and Wald.
Also as a strong doubles tandem, it is Baxter and Wald who come in as the No. 1 doubles team in the country. The combination was a big part of Michigan’s success last fall in dual match play as they look to bring Michigan its first Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis National Championship this coming spring.
