Executive says that Chicago is “keeping”
The Chicago Bulls may have already separated with one high-scoring guard last season, which Zach Lavine is exchanging to the Sacramento Kings, but it seems that Coby White will remain in Chicago for now.
An NBA director told Ashish Mathur van Dallas Hoops Journal That the Bulls have opposed multiple trade offers for white.
“I know that several teams were trying to exchange for Coby this summer,” said the Exec. “There was some chatting that he was almost traded on tap evening. However, the bulls love him. He doesn’t go anywhere. They have shot trade investigations for him.”
White, who entered the last year of his contract, was mentioned in the trade speculation outside the season. However, Chicago’s attitude suggests a strong dedication to the 25-year-old guard.
Breakout season in 2024-25
Last season, White on average had a career-best 20.4 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 33.1 minutes per match. He shot 45.3 percent out of the field, 37.0 percent of three and 90.2 percent of the free throw line, which produced a true lap line of 60.1 percent.
His attacking jump followed a solid 2023-24 campaign where he placed 19.1 points, 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds for 36.5 minutes per game. That season he shot 44.7 percent in total, 37.6 percent of deep and 83.8 percent of the line.
Although his defense has improved, it remains a secondary aspect of his game. Nevertheless, the schedule of Chicago lacks consistent scorers, which increases the value of White for the team.
Contract and team context
White, a former striking North Carolina, was the seventh general choice in the NBA design of 2019 and finished fifth in Rookie of the Year -Voting. His progression was detained in the following seasons, but his recent increase suggests that he might have become a corner.
Financially, White’s salary of $ 12.9 million for 2025-26 is a bargain for a player who produces at his current level. The Bulls, which went 39-43 last season, made the play-offs only since 2017-18 and have only taken one winning season since 2016-17.
Look forward
