UFC star and former champion Israel Adesanya has revealed the performances from his mixed martial arts career that he considers closest to “perfect.”
While he may be losing a bit at the moment, Israel Adesanya is still known as one of the best middleweights of all time. He had a very strong run with the title during his first reign, regaining the gold in stunning fashion with a Knockout of the Year contender over his old rival Alex Pereira.
During his prime, Israel Adesanya racked up some incredible wins that showcased the best of what he has to offer inside the cage. He successfully defended his title, winning gold twice and even daring to be big by moving up to 205 pounds – something he could do again before the end of his run.
In a recent interview, Israel Adesanya explained why his win over Paulo Costa stands above the rest for him.
Israel Adesanya looks back and Paulo Costa wins
(Paulo) Costa’s was perfect because I think it is my cleanest work,” Adesanya said in a question and answer session in Bangtao. Muay Thai & MMA. “Take no damage and do all the damage. I think technically this is my cleanest work. But if you go back to King of the Ring or kickboxing, I have some too.”
“But when we talk about the UFC, I think of the Costa fight. Honestly, that was satisfying. The ‘Poatan’ version, that’s the trilogy and the damn story, for years I thought, ‘I can beat this guy,’ but he always beats me, and I finally got him. That was really satisfying, but I would say, no, the Costa version was so sweet.”
