Israel Adesanya will not immediately hang his gloves.
Adesanya has earned his part of the performance during his fighting career. The former Glory Kickboxing star made a seamless transition to MMA and he won the UFC Middleweight Championship twice. While Adesanya enjoyed his time with the rule of the Roost at 185 pounds, he is now on unknown territory with three straight losses.
“The Last Stylebender” has not been able to win a victory since April 2023 when he eliminated Alex Pereira to get the UFC middleweight title back. He then lost the 185 pound gold to Sean Strickland in a huge upset. He was then submitted by Dricus Du Plessis before he ran a TKO loss for Nassourdine Imavov.
Although some have wondered whether Adesanya is almost retired, it seems that his team has the feeling that he has some juice in the tank. City of kickboxing head coach Eugene Bareman told Submission radio That “Izzy” wants to return to the Achthoek soon (via Mmafighting).
“In fact, Izzy now had the start of the year off [after the Imavov loss]And he has returned to training in recent months, “Bareman told Submission Radio.” He trains regularly, so he trains every day, twice a day. And he must prepare his spirit and body for a potential battle at the end of this year, and that is what he does. “
Bareman further said that as long as Adesanya can be seen in attacks that he is intrigued by, he will draw on the dotted line.
“As far as opponents are concerned, I don’t know,” said Bareman. “Izzy has a few more in him, just give him a nice fight. Give him something exciting. Give him something nice. I didn’t really think about specific names, [we should] Leave it to the fans, I think. “
How the UFC matchmakers will book Adesanya will be an interesting story to watch in the coming weeks.
