It was the second-fastest century in List-A cricket, with Sakibul Gani’s 32-ball ton topping the list among Indian players. Both players played the record-breaking innings on December 24.
| Name | Balls | Agreement |
| Sakibul Gani | 32 | Bihar vs Arunachal Pradesh |
| Ishan Kishan | 33 | Jharkhand vs Karnataka |
| Anmolpreet Singh | 35 | Punjab vs Arunachal Pradesh |
| Vaibhav Suryavanshi | 36 | Bihar vs Arunachal Pradesh |
| Yusuf Pathan | 40 | Baroda vs Maharashtra |
After making a T20I comeback following a consistent domestic show, this tone could now pave the way for Ishan to make a comeback in the ODI side as well. This sublime form from Ishan could become a serious threat to KL Rahul’s position in the Indian team in the format.
Ishan Kishan is dominating this domestic season
The Jharkhand captain played a remarkable knock of 125 runs off just 39 balls, peppered with seven boundaries and 14 sixes, against Saurashtra in Ahmedabad. His blistering ton took Jharkhand to 412/9 on the board in their 50 overs against Saurashtra in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match. Virat Singh (88) and Kumar Kushagra (63) also scored brilliant fifties for Jharkhand.

Ishan Kishan’s remarkable knock came after he captained Jharkhand to their first ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title by reaching the match-winning century earlier this month. Kishan finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer with 517 runs. In the final, he reached a hundred in just 45 balls, making it only the third-fastest century ever scored in a men’s T20 tournament final.
With that blow, the star wicketkeeper-batsman became only the second batsman to score a century in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. With a total of five centuries in the T20 tournament, Kishan has now tied with Abhishek Sharma for the highest century ever.
The road back to the Indian cricket team
Meanwhile, December has become a decisive month in Ishan Kishan’s career. In December 2023, Kishan was dropped from the Indian cricket team after requesting a break due to personal reasons. Ishan had returned from South Africa and subsequently missed domestic matches, which did not go down well with the BCCI.
He faced uncertainty and long domestic seasons with little clarity about his future. Instead of giving up, Kishan continued to work through busy domestic schedules, bearing the burden of rejection, and spent months away from the spotlight. Those two years changed him deeply, especially his way of thinking, and he now emerged as the stronger version of himself.
Now, in the same month of December, Kishan has found his way back into the Indian T20I squad. And now, a good run in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 could also open the door for an ODI comeback soon.
