- Rumor has it that the upcoming 2027 Corvette Grand Sport will have a 6.7-liter V8.
- This potential Grand Sport was spotted filming on Angeles Crest Highway.
- The color of the car pays tribute to previous versions of the Grand Sport.
Chevrolet already has a wide range of options for C8 Corvette buyers: from the base car to the wild ZR1X. One of the best versions, However, there isn’t even one yet: the Corvette Grand Sport.
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait much longer. The upcoming 2027 Corvette Grand Sport will likely make its debut later this year, and it’s rumored to have a seriously powerful engine. Instagram user @njp_moto may have seen one in California and said the C8 in question looked nothing like it in its current lineup.
Chevrolet will reportedly use a 6.7-liter V8 for the next Grand Sport. That’s 409 cubic centimeters of what we can probably assume will be non-hybridized rage (although you never know). The Grand Sport has long been the purest evolution of a driver’s car in the Corvette family.
What makes the strongest argument that the C8 spotted above is actually a Grand Sport is the paint scheme. Yes, you see a familiar fender stripe. More important, however, is that blue tint. According to GM Authorityit is very specifically Admiral Blue.
Only 1,000 copies of the C4 Corvette Grand Sport were built. They all left the Admiral Blue factory. Later, when the C7 Grand Sport arrived, the launch color was Admiral Blue.
After watching the video above, it looks like Chevrolet will bring the Grand Sport back in that familiar color. Here is the hope.
Engine1 takes: The arrival of a Grand Sport is a fantastic addition to the Corvette range. Like Porsche’s GTS model, it strikes a strong balance between the overt power of the upper echelons of the range and offers a more engaging driving experience than the base models.
Painting it in Admiral Blue is just icing on the cake of what should prove to be a great variation on the C8’s mission.
