People were obsessed with Marilyn Monroe while she lived, and even after her tragic death, her legend lasts in the spirit of the times through strange hommages such as today’s great prize or no dice PT Cruiser. Let’s see what we could use for such a tribute.
When I was a young car feed, one of my great pleasures flipped through the JC Whitney catalog and considered the purchase of all kinds of frivolous accessories for my imaginary dream car. A horn of the abundance of car and truck parts, it offered everything, from sandbags protected with sandbags and curbs to engine blocks and even entire jeepl bodies that were sent in a crate.
JC Whitney is Still nearbyBut it no longer offers the depth and width of parts and accessories that it once did. That does not mean that sources for automotive accessorizing are no longer available, something that is proven by the add-ons visible on the Nissan 300ZX Convertible 1995 that we considered yesterday. Earned with stripes, flames and badges, it was a level of competition when it comes to uniqueness. It also only cost $ 4,695 to buy, and since it was an apparently solid car among all those add-ons, you all approved that price. The result was a considerable ‘Nice Price’ victory of 70%, along with some ‘eh, why not’ comments as reinforcement.
This time it is personal
Although nowadays it generally torn, the PT cruiser from Chrysler was in fact a roaring success when it was new. It was initially intended to be sold as a Plymouth, with a retro front -end that went back to the Prowler Roadster of that brand. The five-door-based Neon, however, ended up under the Chrysler-Badge when Plymouth was briefly rejected from Mopar’s line-up.
The Retro, the styling of the 1930s in the time a wave of nostalgie-mobiles-wash combined with a somewhat unusual name. The PT Cruiser name is a bit cryptic, and although easily decoded, the first two letters for ‘Personal Transport’, which dry institutional aspect are rarely a consideration when sailing the boulevard.
Various engines appeared in the sleek limits of the fashion of the PT Cruiser about function Engine Bay, and the 2.4-liter turbo as it matched 2003 Adapted edition Is one of the most lively of the couple. A five -speed manual has been made available in the car, but it is equipped with the less fun four -speed gearbox Ultradrive automatically. However, that powertrain is not the claim of this PT cruiser on fame.
The Monroe -Doctrine
As noted, this PT-Cruiser has been adapted within an inch of his life, and the subject of that adapted work is Marilyn Monroe, the sultry pollogram of the silver screen and many pin-up calendar. Miss Monroe, born in Norma Jeane Mortenson, had an unfair tumultuous life that culminated in her death at a far too much age. Her lifelong legacy lives on in the handful of films she made, the iconic appearance of ‘Blonde Bombshell’ with which she is so closely linked, and houses such as Elton John’s Candle In The Wind and this PT Cruiser Pastiche.
Much, if not most, of the changes of the car are detailed in the photos of the advertisement, which is good, because it is something that really begs to be seen instead of described. Unfortunately, the extensive work was not enough to overcome the competition during the 2022 Touch of Dutch Autoshow in Demotte, Indiana, because the PT only collected third place in the Modified Car category, 2000-2009, something that appears from the trophy that was also shared in the advertisement.
Hot wheels, high heels
Wherever you look at this car, you will find a kind of Marilyn Madness. The exterior, in Gold Metallic, has all kinds of non-marn PT accessories, including portholes in the hood, chrome trim on the pillars and peek-a-boo covers for the lights and the rear hatch glass. But then there is the Marilyn wall painting on the hood. That is the stage for what is to come.
Popping the hood reveals a polished panel above the engine with Marilyn’s similarity laser-Etst in the metal. Impacted the air filter housing below with “Gentlemen prefer blondes” on it. That is a puzzle, as we all know that some stylish guys really like in such an environment is a freshly installed air filter and nothing more.
There is more Marilyn in the cabin, where you will find her characteristic, iconic panty-peek flying dress image and a faux lipstick kiss on the backrest. Marilyn also appears above the door of the dashboard box. A trio of automative meters to the driver of the driver, reminds us that this is after all a working car. To be honest, it didn’t do much work because the advertisement notes a clean title and only 40,600 miles on the clock. It is almost as if this was only maintained for the show circuit and has not been hired for daily driving tasks.
Show me the money
If a new owner is currently being sought for, this PT is at a crossroads. Could it be kept as a showgirl, only turned away when the striking of a 3rd place trophy? Or can it be used as a daily driver? After all, it only seems to be used lightly and has the necessary functions (A/C, Power Windows and Locks, etc.) to offer a fairly comfortable ride.
The question is of course whether the asking price of $ 6,500 is useful for both options. What do you think? Is that a fair price for a well -maintained PT Cruiser Turbo that is a rolling monument for Marilyn Monroe? Or is that price on this car a total misfit?
You definitely!
Nice price or no dice:
