When the SPHL’s Huntsville Havoc announced they would be changing their logos for this season, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Finally, how do you design “Havoc” as a logo? While she had a somewhat tame logo Over the past few seasons, I never expected them to go back to a cartoonish logo like the one on the left, but that’s what they revealed before the start of this season. Maybe it’s more appealing to kids and families, but we’re not here to talk about this logo because the Huntsville Havoc may have just set a new standard in jersey design with their birthday jersey for their mascot Chaos. It’s a beauty!As you know, I’m all for minor league hockey teams having fun with their jerseys when they need to. I was a big fan of the Hershey Bears’ efforts when they came up with the “Screaming Bear” jerseys they wore for the first time on Sunday and won 2-1 in overtime against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. I didn’t think jerseys would come close to the nod the Bears gave to their NHL affiliate in the Washington Capitals, but the Huntsville Havoc might have done them even better.
Ladies and gentlemen, here is Chaos’ birthday jersey for his birthday party, which takes place on January 30, 2026 against the Peoria Rivermen.
Holy moly, is that a great take on the Wild Wing Jerseys worn by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks! The Ducks brought back the Wild Wing their Reverse Retro jersey in 2021, but it never felt like it had the same punch as the original Wild Wing jerseys worn in 1995-96. However, seeing the cartoonish face of Chaos and the changes for his wolf features on this Havoc recreation of the Wild Wing jersey may be the best jersey you’ve seen in all competitions!“But Teebz,” I hear you say, “these are still terrible jerseys,” and you’re right, but they are terrible for an NHL team because of their cartoonish look. For a minor league hockey team, these are great because they look so minor league in design. Having the Havoc adopt this jersey design is a great idea, and whoever came up with this idea deserves some kind of bonus or promotion!
Perhaps the best thing about this sweater is that you can get one for yourself! The Havoc takes pre-sale purchases for Chaos birthday sweaters until November 24, so you can’t wait long if you want one in your closet. I would totally reconsider this if they sold jerseys for on the ice, but I don’t like replica jerseys of any kind, even if they are as awesome as this one. I think I’m going to miss this one.
There is one game style jersey available on the Dash auction site, but I’m not in a financial position to spend more than $800 USD on a sweater of any kind. Heck, I wouldn’t spend $800 on a trip to upstate New Jersey, let alone a polyester sweater. As mentioned, I’m missing what could be this year’s best jersey.
