IRE VS Eng 2025, 3rd T20i, Review: The Visitors Seal Series victory in Ireland with Rashid and Cox Heroics

England closed the Drie-Match T20i series in style and beat Ireland in the third and last match in Dublin on Sunday 21 September. The visitors achieved the series 2-0, with one match, thanks to a combined effort by Adil Rashid with the ball and Jordan Cox With the bat. After winning the pitch, England -Schipper Jacob Bethell had chosen to first field.

The Irish started their innings with Captain Paul Stirling and Ross Adair at the fold. Stirling failed to have an impact and left early for only seven runs. Adair, however, stabilized the innings by building a promising partnership with Harry Tector. Adair contributed 33 before he dropped, while Tector added 28 runs. Unfortunately, the middle order of Ireland collapsed, causing the side under pressure.

Ben Calitz brought in 22 points, but it was Gareth Delany who took care of the real spark. Delany showed resilience while Wickets tumbled around him, hit 48 of 29 deliveries, peppered with four four and three sixes. His late flowering helped the hosts to reach a competitive total of 154 for 8. For England, Adil Rashid stood out with numbers of 3 for 29, while Liam Dawson and Jamie Overton took two wickets each. Rehan Ahmed has also contributed with one wicket.

In the chase of 155, England stumbled early As a buttler fell for a duck. Phil Salt held the scoreboard with 29 points and shared a 57-run stand with Jordan Cox. Bethell added 11 before he left, but Cox and Tom Banton took the lead from there. The pair forged a 49-run partnership, so that the competition is effectively sealed.

Banton remained unbeaten at 37 of 26 deliveries, while Cox Top scored with a brilliant 55 out of 35 balls, four boundaries and four sixes. Their efforts ensured that England reached the target with 14 balls. For Ireland, Barry McCarthy, Craig Young, Curtis Campher and Ben White each succeeded a wicket, but could not prevent the defeat.

With this victory, England insured the T20i series 2-0. They will now travel to New Zealand for a series consisting of three T20i’s and so many 50-over-confessions. The Irish side is now waiting for confirmation of their next international competitions.
