Second in 2022 and 2023, but unable to qualify for the Playoffs in 2024 and 2025. Such has been the journey of Lucknow Super Giants since their debut in 2022. After a mega auction in 2025, things are once again looking murkier for the Lucknowi Nawabs, and they are looking for redemption under the leadership of Rishabh Pant. Pant, the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League, not only has a huge task in reviving the team but also his own IPL form.

The 2026 Lucknow Super Giants team has some of the most combative batsmen in the tournament. They are quite unique in the way their team composition is designed. They are the only team that can afford to play all four foreign batters at the same time, and also have a complete Indian bowling line-up. No other IPL team in the tournament has this flexibility. But is that a blessing or a curse?

Again, the most important question is: Do the Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants have a title-winning side? Well, it’s a very difficult question to ask considering their recent performance. LSG Best Plays 11 IPL 2026 Analyzed

Well, we can approach the playing 11 for Lucknow Super Giants in two possible ways. One is where they play all Overseas hitters, and the second is where they play 3 Overseas hitters, and ONE Overseas bowler or AR. These are the ideal two ways in which LSG can approach their playing 11 combination for IPL 2026. Regardless of the optional play, however, the opening combination for LSG should remain constant, and that is a strong hitting duo of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh.

Both had a successful 2025, dominating the charts with their consistent and combative hitting. With a set opening combination, even the middle order seems set, with Nicholas Pooran at 3 and Rishabh Pant at 4. While Pooran breathed fire last year, with over 500 runs and a strike rate above 180, Pant had a mediocre year as a batsman, having failed to make any impact, either as a batsman or as a captain. However, LSG should continue with the same top 4 for IPL 2026.

With a set top 4, the number 5 position is where the optional possibilities could arise for the LSG team. Since the LSG team already has three solid Overseas hitters in the top 4, they also have the flexibility to play another strong hitter in the form of Josh Inglis. The addition of Inglis was a bonus for the LSG team, but as Inglis may only be available for one match, he should ideally play at 5, whenever he is available – giving the LSG team a strong top 5; probably the best in the IPL.

Josh Inglis vs. Wanindu Hasaranga for 4th place overseas

If Inglis does not play at 5, LSG may opt to play Wanindu Hasaranga as their fourth Overseas player. Hasaranga is a crafty fox and could be a good number 8 candidate for the team. If Lucknow Super Giants decide to play Wanindu Hasaranga, they can play Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad at 5 and 6 respectively. If not, Badoni and Samad would have to play at 6 and 7 if Josh Inglis plays. However, it is clearly visible that Hasaranga is playing, the LSG lower order looks weak. The team will also see a useful contribution from Shahbaz Ahmed’s assignment.

Talking about the bowling line-up, LSG will once again have to depend on their Indian contingent. Mohammed Shami, who was traded from SRH, should lead the pace bowling for the team and he should get support from Avesh Khan and Mayank Yadav, if he is fit. If Mayank is not available, LSG can opt for Mohsin Khan, Prince Yadav and Akash Singh in order. With the pace bowling settled, the spin bowling will have to be taken care of by Digvesh Rathi, Shahbaz Ahmed and Wanindu Hasaranga if played over Inglis.

IPL 2026 Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) best predicted games 11

  1. Mitchell Marsh
  2. Aiden Markram
  3. Nicholas Pooran
  4. Rishabh Pants (c&wk)
  5. Josh Inglis/Wanindu Hasaranga
  6. Ayush Badoni
  7. Abdul Samad
  8. Shahbaz Ahmed
  9. Digvesh Rathi
  10. Avesh Khan
  11. Mohammed Shami
  12. Mayank Yadav (impact player)

So that’s about the strong playing 11 for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for IPL 2026. Whatever combination the LSG team plays, they will miss one or the other. If they play Inglis, they will be missing a good fifth bowler. While if they play Hasaranga, their fifth bowler will be sorted, but they will face issues with the lack of batting depth and a vulnerable lower order. Considering their team combination, it could be another painful year for the LSG team. The bowling line-up is still full, and it is their batting line-up that they will have to shoulder most of their responsibility.
