Inter reached the top of Serie A after goals from Lautaro Martinez and Ange-Yoan Bonny secured a 2-0 win over Lazio at San Siro.
Cristian Chivu’s side dominated throughout and were only denied a bigger victory by VAR, ruling out Piotr Zielinski’s effort.
It took Inter just three minutes to break the deadlock, with Martinez firing a stunning finish into the top right corner of the net for the first time, with little pressure from Lazio’s defence.
Mattia Zaccagni then blasted past the visitors’ best chance of the first half, before Petar Sucic blasted a first-time volley wide of the right post after Nicolo Barella picked him out following a counter-attack.
Matteo Guendouzi then forced Yann Sommer into a low save early in the second half, but Inter scored their second goal in the 61st minute, when Federico Dimarco put it on a plate for Bonny to turn into an empty net from yards out.
Six minutes later Inter were denied a third goal. The hosts countered quickly and Zielinski took a pinpoint strike from the bottom right corner, but the goal did not count as Dimarco handled the ball in the run-up.
Lazio tried to fight back late as Mario Gila rose high, but his header hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced clear of the goal line, before Sommer made a suffocating save late on to deny Luca Pellegrini.

Data debrief: Martinez regains scoring contact
It was a match of very few chances in Milan, with both teams having eight shots each, with Inter worth 1.91 expected goals (xG) and Lazio 0.68.
Martinez had gone four games in a row without hitting the net, but got back on the scoresheet against Lazio, against whom he now has a career-high seven goals (four at home, three away).
The Argentinian (10 goals by 2025) is the fourth player in Inter history to score at least 10 goals in seven different Serie A calendar years, after Alessandro Altobelli (seven), Benito Lorenzi and Giuseppe Meazza (both eight).
