Connor McDavid still has to sign a contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers, but according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli there is no reason for fans to panic.
In a recent video by Bleacher Report, Seravalli said that negotiations are still at an early stage, with neither parties at the point where the figures were exchanged.

Seravalli reports:
“Om je een snelle update te geven, is het een erg drukke sociale zomer geweest voor Connor McDavid, zoals iedereen op sociale media zag. Hij was naar het buitenland in Europa bij de beste vriend Leon Draisaitl’s bruiloft. We zagen allemaal de video’s van hem op jetski’s met Leon Draisaitl en de nu beruchte foto die hij heeft gepost van een dart rookt een dart in zijn eigen bruiloft … Nummers die niet zijn exchanged.
He adds that there is no hint of nerves, panic or fear of the player or the edmonton oilers side of things. Seravalli explains:
“As good as I can see, I would expect here in a relatively short order, whether it is in the coming week or two, that that process will start to rise and that it is essentially the way it is explained, the moment Connor McDavid chooses his head and decides that he wants a contract extension, that is the day that it will happen.”
He says, it can be so fast because there is not really a negotiation here.

This report should reassure fans of Oilers who are concerned about the timing of the McDavid extension. His expansion is the most important thing on the team’s task list, and all the worries he may not want to stay, has involved fans.
