Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has delivered worrying injury news on three players ahead of Monday night’s Premier League meeting with Bournemouth.
The Red Devils will be without both Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt after Amorim confirmed their unavailability.
And striker Benjamin Sesko has suffered a setback after recovering from a knee injury.
The Slovenian international was struck with food poisoning this week, which could rule him out of Monday’s match at Old Trafford.
Earlier this week, United climbed to sixth place in the Premier League with a 4-1 win over bottom side Wolves.
They are just one point behind fourth-placed Crystal Palace and are firmly in contention for Champions League football.
But they will have to compete against the Cherries as at least two big names are missing from the team sheet.
The lack of options at the back for Amorim has led to some reports linking them Sergio Ramos to Manchester Unitedwith the World Cup winner being touted as a short-term option.
It is therefore essential for United to get their defense back in order, especially as the festive fixtures pile up.
Ruben Amorim delivers injury news at Manchester United
During his press conference ahead of the weekend, Amorim confirmed the situation.
“Maguire is out. De Ligt is out. Ben [Sesko]We have to see if he is available,” he said.
“He had food poisoning, we have two more training sessions.”

Amorim further explained that Dutch international De Ligt is struggling with a back problem.
‘I think he’s got something in his back. I’m not sure.
“He finished the game against Crystal Palace, but sometimes he feels pain and we have to be careful with that,” said the Portuguese coach.
As for Harry Maguire, the England defender has been missing since November’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham.
He will be sidelined for the fifth consecutive time in the Premier League due to a thigh problem.
But United are hoping the former Leicester City man will return before the new year.
Benjamin Sesko’s illness could keep the attacker out
It has been a frustrating period for Benjamin Sesko since arriving at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old joined from German club RB Leipzig for £74million this summer.
But he struggled with his form and fitness, scoring just two goals in twelve appearances.

Benjamin Sesko could play against Bournemouth, but remains a major doubt.
A knee injury against Spurs has kept him out of recent games.
And just as he was about to make a comeback, he was hit again.
Although not definitively ruled out, Ruben Amorim could opt to keep Sesko out of the squad until next Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
Because most attackers need a series of matches to develop sharpness and stay fit, this is far from ideal.
Bournemouth may be too early for Sesko, but both he and Amorim will hope he can put together a strong run of games quickly.
United’s match against the Cherries starts at 8pm on Monday evening at Old Trafford.
