India, signed next to Japan, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 – The Away End

India were drawn with Japan, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei in group C of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 in the last trekking ceremony in the town hall of Sydney on Tuesday 29 July 2025.

Placed in position C3, the Blue Tijgerijds start their Women’s Asian Cup with a match against Vietnam on March 4, 2026, in the rectangular stadium of Perth. India will then be confronted at the same location at the same location on 7 March, before on 10 March in the West Sydney Stadium against the Chinese Taipei.

For the pot references of the latest draw, sowing was based on the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking (from 12 June). India, in the 70th place, were placed in pot 4.

Japan is in 7th place in the world, Vietnam is 37th and the Chinese Taipei are 42nd.

Blue Tigresses midfielder Sangita BasFore, whose brace booked the ticket from India to Australia in the final qualification against Thailand, was one of the three trekking assistants on Tuesday evening, next to the Australian Tameka Yallop and Korea Republic’s Jon Yu-Gyeong.

In group A, hosts Australia were signed alongside Korea Republic, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Philippines. Group B contains DPR Korea, China PR, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan.

The top two sides of each group, together with the two best third teams, will continue to the quarterfinals. The four-quarter-final winners will be eligible for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2027. The losing quarter-finally will dispute the play-offs for the two remaining direct places assigned to the AFC for the World Cup. The two play-off losers get another chance to qualify for Brazil through the Inter-Confederation play-offs.

The quarterfinals will be played from 13 to 15 March and the semi -final are planned for 17 and 18 March, in Sydney and Perth. Sydney’s Stadium Australia, which also organized the FIFA World Cup 2023 final, will be the location for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 final on March 21. The World Cup qualifying play-offs for the losing quarter-finalists will be held in the Gold Coast on March 19.
