Bengaluru, August 8, 2025: The Indian men’s hockey team left for Australia from Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru in the early hours of Friday, while they are preparing for a crucial four-match series against the hosts. The series, which takes place in the Perth Hockey Stadium from 15 to 21 August, will serve as an essential preparation for the upcoming Hero Asia Cup 2025, planned in Rajgir, Bihar later this month.
The Tour is expected to offer the team of valuable competition exposure against one of the world’s best -ranking parties, so that the coaching staff can purchase combinations and the players’ form can be assessed prior to the continental tournament.
Indian men’s hockey team Captain HarmanPreet Singh, who spoke before departure, said: “Playing Australia in their home conditions is always a big challenge, and that is exactly what we need in this phase of our preparations. We treat this series as an important part of our structure of our Asia Cup.
He added: “The mood in the camp has been really positive. We have had a good training block and now it is time to translate that on the field. These matches will help us identify areas that we have to sharpen for the Asia Cup, and we are enthusiastic about the possibility of playing hockey with a high intensity against Australia.”
India plays four games on 15, 16, 19 and 21 August. The team has a mix of experienced players and rising talent, and continues to be followed closely because the last group is being completed in front of the Asia Cup.
