Australia Women achieved one of the most remarkable victories in the history of women’s ODI cricket, chasing a record target of 331 runs and beating India Women by 3 wickets in the 13th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Sunday. So let’s take a look at the highlights of the 13th match between IND-W and AUS-W.

Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal Power India to 330

After being asked to bat first, India’s openers gave the perfect start. Smriti Mandhana continued her exceptional form hitting 80 off 66 balls while Pratika Rawal played a composed knock of 75 runs. The duo put on a huge opening partnership of 155 runs, laying the foundation for a big total.

Mandhana’s innings was full of class and purpose as she pushed boundaries all over the park and achieved two major milestones: she became the first player in Women’s ODI history to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year, and the Indian with the most 50+ scores against Australia.

India looked set for a total of over 360 with Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues keeping the momentum going. However, after Ghosh’s dismissal, the innings collapsed dramatically. The hosts lost their last six wickets for just 36 runs to finish on 330 in 48.5 overs.

Annabel Sutherland played with the ball for Australia, claiming 5 wickets for 40 runs, her first five-wicket haul in ODIs, while Sophie Molineux chipped in with 3 for 75.

Captain’s knock from Healy stuns India

Chasing a huge target, Alyssa Healy produced a stunning captain’s innings, hitting 142 off just 107 balls, including 21 fours and 3 sixes. It was her first ODI century since 2022 and her first as captain, returning to top form when her team needed it most.

Healy’s partnerships with Phoebe Litchfield and later with Ashleigh Gardner (95-run stand) kept Australia well ahead of the required pace. Despite India’s brief comeback – with Gardner and Molineux dismissed in quick succession – Australia remained calm.

When Healy finally fell to a spectacular one-handed catch from Sneh Rana at 276/5, India sensed an opening. But experienced Ellyse Perry, who was out injured earlier, returned to anchor the chase with an unbeaten 47 off 52 balls, guiding her team home with an over.

Historic pursuit and India’s missed opportunity

This chase was the highest successful chase in Women’s ODI history, surpassing all previous records. It was a disappointing performance for India; despite solid batting performances, the lack of penetration in the bowling and the missed opportunities in the field proved costly.

Australia’s composure, led by the brilliance of Healy and the resilience of Perry, once again underlined why they remain the favorites to win the World Cup.

Final score:
India Women – 330/10 (48.5 overs)
Australia Women – 331/7 (49 overs)
Player of the match:

Alyssa Healy (142 off 107 balls)
