Roston Chase has pointed to the lack of cricket infrastructure in the West India as one of the factors behind their falling performance in test cricket. The loss of innings for India in the first test of the current series was the fourth defeat of the West Indies in the World Test Championship cycle of 2025-27.
Chase was frank to admit that the crushing defeat in Ahmedabad was in no way directly related to the terrible circumstances at home. However, he launched a public plea for the other cricket boards to switch on if they could bring some firmness to the operations and finances of Cricket West India.
“I think the systems in the Caribbean are a bit bad in terms of training facilities and such. I do not use that as an excuse or something to hide for bad versions that we have postponed lately. I still think that the responsibility is to find the players to find a way to find it,” that we explain it, that we are so explained. Chase, as quoted by Espncricinfo.
He also emphasized the problems that cricketers in the West -India are confronted while playing at the various locations founded by the board.
“Yes, those are some of the infrastructure problems that we have. The fields in the Caribbean are not really percussion -friendly. So, boys don’t really hit long for long periods and score those big scores. And then the outfields in the Caribbean are really slow.
“That is why you see boys who are on average so low. If you look at the previous series that we had against Australia, I think that was the first time I ever played an international series where a Batsman never scored a hundred in three games. Of course we had a bad Batting display. This has been something that has hit us in the last two series.”
There were only two about both innings West -India Slip people who could get beyond the 30-run mark, because they were excluded in 44.1 in the first innings and 146 in 45.1 overs in the second before 162.
