IND vs NZ 2026: ‘He looks pretty good too’ – Former Indian batsman’s bizarre take on Abhishek Sharma after 14-ball fifty in 3rd T20I

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar received intriguing praise Abishek Sharmas features after the left-hander hit a half-century off 14 balls in the third T20I against New Zealand at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, January 25. Abhishek ultimately finished unbeaten on 68 off 20 balls as India chased down a 154-run target in 10 overs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Abhishek has been in red-hot form in the shortest format for the past two years. He is currently the top-ranked batsman in T20I cricket. On Sunday, he narrowly missed his mentor Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest fifty in T20Is. The former all-rounder had achieved the milestone in 12 balls during a match against England during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.

While Manjrekar explained what makes Abhishek the perfect T20 batsman, he said the 25-year-old is not concerned about personal milestones and strives to maximize every delivery. The former batsman also added that Abhishek looks “quite handsome”.

“So this is a guy who tries to maximize returns from every ball. Great ball talent, is selfless, not afraid to get out and doesn’t care about milestones, which makes him a sensational player. And he’s quite good looking too,” Manjrekar said on his Instagram account.

It is a God-given talent. The other thing you love about him is that he is extremely selfless. If you look at the hundreds he has in T20Is, the strike rate is above 200. He is not one to slow down just because he is in the 90s. He doesn’t care about getting out, which is a great quality to have in T20 cricket. On the first ball he takes a risk and tries to score a six. Such hitters are extremely dangerous. Not those who hit a boundary and want to extend their innings,” he added.

India and New Zealand will meet in the fourth T20I on Wednesday, January 28, at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Although the series has already been won by the Men in Blue, both teams will look at the final two matches as their final opportunities to rehearse for the T20 World Cup, which starts on February 7.
