Jamie Overton has been called to the team of England for the last test against India. The Fast Bowler, who recently played for Surrey in the County Championship, is the only new name added after the fourth test at Old Trafford.

England looking for fresh legs

The fourth test ended in a draw after England threw a tiring 257.1 overs over two innings. Ben Stokes said the Bowlers need time to rest before definitive decisions are made.

“If you look at how long we have been in the field and the overs that we have bent as a bowling unit, everyone will be pretty painful and pretty tired to enter the last game of the series,” Stokes said Sponge.

“These recovery days will be pretty important and we may have to make a few decisions to get some new legs. But that will not be decided until we get closer to the last game,” he added.

Rotation probably under tired bowlers

England has usually used the same bowling attack in this series. Chris Woakes has bent 167 overs, most by every player. Brydon Carse (155 overs) and Ben Stokes (140 overs) also had a heavy load.

Jofra Archer came in for Josh Tongue after the first two games. Archer, who returns to Red-Ball’s cricket after four years, still finds his rhythm. Liam Dawson was added in the fourth test to cover for Shoaib Bashir, which is injured.

Josh Tongue, with 11 wickets so far, remains contrary. Gus Atkinson is another option after prove his fitness while playing for Surrey’s second team.

Overton played a test for the last time in 2022, but can be returned to illuminate the workload on the head of bowlers. With one more game in the series, England clearly wants to balance the performance with player recovery
