United Under 18s couldn’t have started the match better.

Newcastle United Under 18s dominated the early stages of this league match, taking a nine-minute lead through a Jayden Koussou header.

Kacey Wooster scored the 2-0 after 17 minutes.

Then Henry Johnson goes home.

With 21 minutes left on the clock, the young Newcastle United is 3-0 up and has already hit the woodwork a few times.

What could go wrong…?

Manchester City, of course, has incredible quality across the club, at all levels, not just the first team.

Reigning under-18 champions showed why again.

Finlay Gorman and Karim Cassim both scored, United led only 3-2 at half time.

Just 13 seconds after the restart, Manchester City’s Teddie Lamb equalized.

With just under 20 minutes left on the clock, Lamb scored his second goal and Man City now led 4-3.

With a few minutes to go, Dexter Oliver added a fifth for the visitors, making a final 5-3 scoreline that was tough on Newcastle United’s youngsters.

However, there are a lot of positives to see today as they continue their learning curve and hopefully some of them become future first-team players.
