Ipswich Town are back in Championship action on Saturday afternoon. ITFC will be looking to bounce back from the 3-1 defeat away to Leicester City last time out.
Midfielder Jens Cajuste got their goal against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium. However, they could not get anything out of the match and slumped to a disappointing defeat.
Kieran McKenna’s men, however, remain in a strong position at the table. They are in the play-offs Preston North End, Millwall and Hull City.
Ex-Luton Town and Swindon Town striker Sam Parkin said ahead of the upcoming clash between the Tractor Boys, according to Benjamin Bloom YouTube channel: “Probably the flattest performance of the season from Wednesday (Sheffield Wednesday vs Derby County). I think there was one shot on target and that was certainly once when they were 3-0 down. I’m sorry, but I’m going in here. I’m going in 4-0.”
Sheffield Wednesday are at the bottom of the league and in the drop zone along with Norwich City and Oxford United. They lost 3–0 at home to Derby County in their last outing.
Ipswich Town wants to recover against Sheffield Wednesday
Ipswich Town’s aim this season is to achieve immediate promotion back to the Premier League. ITFC were relegated from the top flight earlier this year after finishing in the bottom three along with Leicester City and Southampton.
The Tractor Boys sold key players such as Omari Hutchinson and Liam Delap in the last transfer period. They then dived into the market in the summer to bring in Sindre Walle Egeli, Kasey McAteer and Ivan Azon, among others, to strengthen their squad.
They haven’t been as consistent as they would have hoped in this campaign. The club from Suffolk is vulnerable to a single defeat and needs to tighten things up.
McKenna is a manager who likes to rotate his starting XI regularly. This can sometimes disrupt their flow. However, it is never easy to get back to the second level, especially after getting into the habit of losing games at the top level.

What next for Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the Ipswich Town test?
Sheffield Wednesday won only once under the leadership of Henrik Pedersen. SWFC’s only win came on their trips against Portsmouth in September.
Pedersen was appointed as their manager following the departure of Danny Rohl. He was previously part of Rohl’s coaching staff after joining the club in 2023.
However, the Dane works with tied hands and does his best with the limited resources he has at his disposal. His team face another tough test against Ipswich Town and will have to be at their best to get anything out of the match.
