After almost 25 years at Nine, Clint Stanaway is saying goodbye, together with his father and mother at the news desk.
Nine news Melbourne has said goodbye to its hardworking sports presenter Clint Stanaway after almost 25 years with the network.
Stanaway’s heavy workload on television and radio was seven days a week, including flights to Sydney Weekend today and back on air on Sunday evening in Melbourne. Ultimately, work-life balance led to a wise decision to scale back (note: he was not part of any network layoffs).
“I have always wanted to work here at Channel Nine, and it has been the greatest privilege of my life to work here for Nine. I walked into Channel Nine as an 18-year-old in Bendigo Street, Richmond,” he continued Nine news.
“I hoped that one day I would become a TV news reporter, and 25 years later I leave very proud of what I was able to achieve here in Melbourne and in Sydney. Today show.
“This is absolutely the best newsroom not just in Melbourne, but in Australia, full of great people and lifelong friends. I will always be a Nine person, forever.
“Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way, and thank you to those of you at home, those who looked to invite us and me into your lounge areas as well.”
“It was a great privilege, a great honor. I’m leaving with a very heavy heart, but I had to make a decision… and I will miss you all.”
Nine showed a nice Tony Jones retrospective package before Stanaway was even joined at the counter by his parents.
Weekend today also said goodbye for 13 minutes on Sunday, prompting him to declare: “I’m not dying.”
On Tuesday night, Nine will do it all again, in a loving farewell to Livinia Nixon.
