The IFBB Pro League has announced that the Olympia qualifying rules of Joe Weider will change for the 2026 from September 15, 2025, so that the “Win and you’re in” format will be shaken. This is what you need to know.
In an attempt to limit the field of competitors who hit the Olympia podium, while the top stars force the boards more often, the IFBB Pro League has restored a point system in many categories and the number of shows doubled that a bodybuilder should win for divisions, classical, Bikini. Apart from the open division, the road to Olympia has changed dramatically.
What the new 2026 Olympia qualifies changes qualifying rules means for every division:
Open Division:
- Top 3 of the previous Mr. Olympia automatically qualifies
- All others must win a Pro show to be eligible
Classic physique, men’s physique, bikini, wellness:
Athletes qualify by both:
- Winning two pro shows, or
- Ranking in the top 25 of the points classification
Points are awarded to the 2nd – 5th place finishers at Pro shows, with values ranging due to placement and event level.
Men 212, Bodybuilding for Women, Physique of Women, Fitness, Figure:
- Top 3 of the Olympia 2025 automatically qualifies
- Winners of one open show also qualify
- (In bodybuilding of women, the top 3 of the Rising Phoenix 2025 also qualifies)
Wheelchair division:
- Top 3 of the Olympia 2025 automatically qualifies
- Winners of Open Shows also qualify
- The top 4 in the points classification is also eligible.
Why did the Olympia qualifications change change?
The “win and you you in” system in all divisions has led to many benefits qualified and then serving it for the rest of the year. With some divisions that now require two victories, Bodybuilders will have to complete more often, making the season more exciting. Similarly, the Athletes points system will reward them consistently well, but will not always win. The points system will probably bring more top candidates for every qualifying show.
Those who rise to the highest level in bodybuilding have everything to compete on. “Every former Olympia winner has lifelong suitability (to enter a definitive the same category),” explained the IFBB Pro League statement about the new rules. “However, this suitability is not automatic. Where more than five years have passed since the last Olympia win, approval of the IFBB Pro League is required.”
The competition prior to 2026 Olympia will probably be stronger than ever.
