This week, September has been completed, or technically as we call it, with the last few events of the month, from Amazon to the big hardware of Google and software.
We also looked at the internet because Xbox Game Pass got a big price increase, so many people wondered whether the subscription is still a good deal for them.
To catch up all this and more, scroll down for our summary of the seven largest technical news stories of the week.
1. Samsung teased the folding iPhone
For iCymi we normally do not take reports based on leaks and speculation, because although they can be right on the money, they can also be far from the goal – even from often reliable sources. We make an exception here The President Lee Cheong of Samsung Display has said that the company is preparing for massive folding telephone panels for a North -American customer, and only one company comes to mind as this mysterious buyer: Apple.
That is because it is rumor that the long-awaited foldable iPhone will be launched next year, and Samsung Display has long been made other iPhone screens.
We have heard countless rumors about what the foldable iPhone could look like, but expect something thin – it can even be thinner than the 5.6 mm iPhone air if they unfolded. In terms of prices, the most recent leaked price we have heard is $ 1,999 (around £ 1,500 / au $ 3,050).
The many hyped meta ray-ban display glasses are finally available to the public in the US, and you can even book a demo to give them a swirl.
This portable is essentially the existing Ray-Ban smart glasses from Meta with an attached screen, which offers extra functionality, such as navigation on the screen, pop-ups of notifications and even support for video calls.
But with couples who start at $ 799, you probably want to try them before you buy them. That’s why, use Meta’s official planning page, You can find a retailer near you who offers demos of 25 minutes. Just be willing to wait a while, because demos have been booked for months – although the more stores offer the specifications and roll them out to more regions, it should be easier to book a demo slot.
3. We assessed an AI ‘ACTRESS’
Tilly Norwood is an AI ‘ACTRESS’ from ‘The World’s First Artificial Intelligence (AI) Talent Studio’, Xicoia, and she burst on stage via social media to look for agent representation.
The maker asked people to ‘judge her on merit’, but we and many others – especially remarkable Hollywood figures – have decided that she is a frightening prospect for the world of entertainment that could remove humanity from upcoming shows and films.
At these moments we cannot help to think of that viral quote from Joanna Maciejewska when it comes to Tilly Norwood: “I want AI to do my laundry and dishes, so that I can do art and write, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.”
“For example, if you talk to Meta Ai about walking, we can learn that you are interested in hiking network as we would if you would place a reel about walking or to love a walking-related page. As a result, you could see your recommendations for hiking groups, messages from friends about paths or advertisements for hikboots,” Meta explained the announcement.
Meta may be a pioneer here, but Google has discussed with showing advertisements in Gemini and its AI overviews that appear at the top of the search, while Amazon uses conversations with its Rufus AI -Chatbot for similar purposes.
5. Amazon announced new hardware
On Tuesday, Amazon held a huge hardware event in New York, and we were there in the audience, so you brought the entire lowdown on every device when it was announced.
Some highlights were the Kindle SCRIBE ColorSoft, who feels like writing on paper, integrates with OneDrive and Google documents, new Echo Smart speakers and smart displays, three new fire TVs and updated ring cameras and doorbell.
Everything is steeped in AI thanks to Alexa+, and we could get our hands (and ears) on everything to bring you our first impressions as soon as the presentations were over.
6. Google Home received an AI update
Google’s Smart Home Tech is finally set to get the long-awaited Gemini update, which will offer more conversation interactions, improved help for setting up your automation and better object detection for your smart cameras.
Unfortunately you have to start paying for the best positions for one Google Home Premium subscription – The UWE for $ 10 per month or $ 100 per year (the standard level), or $ 20 per month or $ 200 per year (the advanced layer).
The good news is that you do not have to upgrade to the new Google Home speaker (although you can do it if you want), because the update is supported by all Google Home Tech in the past decade.
7. Xbox Game Pass received a price increase
This means that a year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – for $ 359.88 – only costs a little less than an Xbox series S – with its recently increased price of $ 379.99.
Now Ultimate comes with a number of useful benefits. It now contains a Fortnite crew membership (which you skins, 1,000 V-bucks per month and the Battle Pass), Ubisoft+ Classics (composite classic Ubisoft games) and shorter waiting times and 1440p resolution during streaming.
That said, many gamers did not take this news well, with the page that players would use to cancel their subscriptions that crash. Yikes! Don’t worry about the price increase, because for the time being you can still get Xbox Game Pass for $ 19.99 per month – as long as shares last.
