England survived a huge shock on Tuesday (October 7) when the non -convincing victory of four wickets booked at Bangladesh in the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. With the victory, the team-led team has retained its winning start of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
England has also brought the victory to the top of the point table. Together with India and Australia, they are the only unbeaten teams in the competition with ten teams.

On the other hand, Bangladesh’s brave fight with the ball was finally in vain. Although they gave England for their money, they could not finish the competition strongly. With one win and one loss, Bangladesh is currently in fourth place in the point table.
Heather Knight guides England to victory
Bangladesh was the first to get started and was all eliminated for only 178 points. The English bowlers had an impressive performance for the second game in a row. After having only had 69 runs against South Africa, the English bowlers also dominated Bangladesh.
With the pitch -assisting spinners, the English star played Sophie Ecclestone with the ball and took 3 for 24, while Charlie Dean, Linsey Smith and Alice Capsey each grabbed two wickets.
For Bangladesh, Sobhana Mostary was the top scorer. She scored 60 runs from 108 balls, while Rabeya Khan took care of the much -needed late momentum by the innings by beating an unbeaten 43 on only 27 balls.
Bangladesh continued to lose wickets at regular intervals from the start. While Mostary remained steadfast on the one hand, there was very little support from the other side.
With the exception of Mostary and Rabeya, Sharmin Akter (30) was the only Bengales batter to get the double digits.
With the ball, Bangladesh brought England in all kinds of problems. Marufa Akter again impressed with the ball when she hit Amy Jones for just one point in the very first. In the 7th, Marufa struck again and sent the other English opener, Tammy Beaumont, back for 13.
Bangladesh fought hard
Then Fahima Khatun led the attack with the ball for Bangladesh. She took 3 wickets in no time to help her team reduce England to 78 for 5.
Bangladesh was firmly on the wheel at that time. They only strengthened their position when Akter Meghla Alice Capsey fired to reduce England to 103/6.
The former captain of England, Heather Knight,, however, scored an unbeaten 79 to finally take her team home. She and Charlotte Dean shared an unbeaten position of 79 runs for the 7th Wicket and broke the hearts of Bangladesh.
