As we know, after being relegated at the end of the 2025 season, Henrik Stenson has decided to return to the DP World Tour, while retaining a share in the team.
On Wednesday it was announced that his two (former) colleagues have signed a contract with LIV for the 2026 season.
Lee Westwood and Ian James Poulter chose to play in the Saudi League from the start and made their debuts at the Centurion Club in June 2022, the first LIV Golf Invitational.
Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, statements
Their statements agree.
Let’s start with Poulter:
“I have been part of Majesticks Club since day one and I am excited to continue the journey as a player and as a captain.”
“What we have achieved here, both on and off the course, is special, with a clear long-term vision.”
“LIV has changed the game of golf in exciting ways for players and fans alike, and being part of that evolution has been incredible.”
“Re-signing for 2026 was an easy decision for me. I am more motivated than ever and can’t wait to help the team towards the 2026 season.”
For his part, Lee Westwood said: “It’s fantastic to continue this journey with Majesticks GC.”
“What we have achieved together over the past five years has been incredibly rewarding, and the progress we have made as a team and as part of LIV Golf has been nothing short of incredible.”
“I am committed to helping guide the 2026 journey and contributing in any way I can, both as a player and as a leader.”
While we wait to find out if Sam Horsfield will remain on the team, Henrik Stenson’s place has been taken by Laurie Canter, who returns to LIV Golf after a year on the DP World Tour, where he earned full membership for the 2026 PGA Tour season, which he withdrew, prompting the kind of reaction you can imagine.
The LIV Golf season starts on February 4 in Riyadh.
