Some people like the idea of the Edmonton Oilers being linked to Tristan Jarry in trade speculation. Interestingly enough, it’s not just Oilers fans who have an opinion on the rumors. One account wrote“I will personally take him to Edmonton,” a response to the idea of the Penguins moving forward with Jarry and his contract.
Other fans joined in on the Jarry talk and this post, replying, “Let me know if you need gas money or even a rental car!” and “I pay for the gas.”
Needless to say, there are some fans in Pittsburgh who are not Jarry fans and would welcome a move that would send him elsewhere. Jarry isn’t the answer, a few fans who don’t like the idea that the Oilers might be willing to give up a question mark in Stuart Skinner for another question mark in Jarry thought. At best, he would be a maybe, making no difference at all behind incredibly poor defensive coverage that would make even the best goalkeeper in the league look like he was destined for the minors.
And the interesting thing about Jarry is that he’s not that far removed from the minors. This is a netminder who has struggled. He has a good season in 2025/26, but to say he is confident of that is far from accurate. In 36 games for the Penguins last season, he posted a 3.09 goals against average and an .893 save percentage.
Which goalkeeper is he? Is he the stud who played five solid seasons with the Penguins before falling apart in the 2024-2025 season? Or is he more of last year’s goalie, only on a temporary high behind a high-performing Penguins roster in 2025-2026? Bryan Hayes of TSN OverDrive commented, “This is change for change’s sake.” He isn’t sold on the idea that this is an upgrade for the Oilers, who reportedly want more time before making a decision on Stuart Skinner or Calvin Pickard.
