  • Google’s photo competence is perhaps the best there is because of the software tuning.
  • The Pro Reszom brought for objects that were hardly visible to the naked eye.
  • Night photography, seamless editing and other functions added to a great camera experience.

After decades of treatment of mobile devices – and a personal obsession with always the newest and best smartphones – I never travel with just one. For the wedding of my middle daughter in Hawaii I packed five flagships to document the week: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, VIVO X200, OnePlus 13 and Google Pixel 10 Pro.

It was not long to crown a clear winner. After the first event, the Pixel 10 Pro stood out as the most reliable and versatile option. The difficult point-and-shoot experience, exceptional image quality in all lighting conditions and powerful processing on the device made it my go-to device. I passed it on to family members all week – and now I sort thousands of photos and videos, most of which came out of the pixel.

I was particularly impressed by Google’s Pro Res Zoom functionality, which offers up to 100x Zoom on the Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL. The Tensor G5 Powers Pro Res Zoom, and the 10 Pro impressed everyone when I conquered turtles on the beach, flowers from distant, wildlife animals with us for breakfast and more. The phone helped to capture objects that we could hardly see with the naked eye while retaining excellent clarity.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is my current daily driver, and the zom options are solid – good enough that I have achieved a few times to catch animals in the wild and the lively detail of Hawaiian Flora. But in almost any case, the Pixel 10 Pro produced noticeably sharper, more detailed results.

The difference amounts to optics and software. The Pixel 10 Pro has a 5x optical zoom lens compared to the 3x of the Z fold 7. It also supports up to 100x digital zoom, far above 30x limit of the Z -fold. That extra range, and the one that comes with it, made the difference in photographing distant subjects.

With the wedding events that were held on the Hawaii coast, I made a few panoramic recordings and I found the updated Panorama Capture guidance flawless, with beach and lava content that looks beautiful on Pixel 10 Pro.

We had around 60 guests who came to Hawaii, so we spent a lot of time at the reception to make group shots. The car best take function, which is automatically switched on when taking a group photo, has helped us to capture the best of each person without any processing or manual selection later.

My wife was particularly impressed by the ability of Google to use AI to repair photos that she would normally remove during dancing and they would normally remove because they were too blurry.

I am not impressed by the battery life of pixel devices in the past, so I was worried about the six-hour wedding and reception schedule. The Pixel 10 Pro helped us to take more than 500 photos and videos before the battery finally finished. Fortunately, Google now also supports charging quickly, so I could charge the phone and continue the next morning.

The Pro RES ZOOM UI changes to help you find your subject when you have zoomed in

There is a useful additional viewfinder that shows you where you concentrate when zooming in.

Now that I am at home, I am planning to try many more functions and functions, including the use of natural prompts in Google photos to edit photos and let camera coach guide me to take better photos. Things moved too quickly and furiously during the wedding week to pay attention to the coach, but I hope to explore this position quickly.
