Hyundai Motor India is entering the commercial mobility segment with the Prime taxi range

Hyundai Motors on Tuesday announced its entry into the commercial mobility segment with the launch of its dedicated taxi offerings: Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan).According to the company, the new Prime range has been developed for fleet managers and taxi operators, with an emphasis on low operating costs, reliability and higher earning potential. Both models are powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine, available with petrol and CNG options.

The Prime HB starts at Rs 5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD starts at Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are available at Hyundai dealerships across India with a booking amount of Rs 5,000.

“With the introduction of Prime HB and Prime SD, HMIL is proud to enter the commercial mobility space with products designed for trust, reliability and good earning potential,” said Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India. He added that the vehicles are aimed at delivering maximum uptime, predictable maintenance and low cost of ownership for commercial users.Hyundai said both models come with extended warranty options for high-use vehicles, with coverage for the fourth and fifth years or up to 1,80,000 km, whichever comes earlier. The company claims total ownership cost of around 47 paise per km. Flexible financing options will also be available with repayment terms of up to 72 months.


The Prime range will be supported by Hyundai’s nationwide sales and service network, with trained fleet care advisors at dealerships to specifically cater to taxi and fleet customers.

In terms of efficiency, the Prime SD offers a claimed fuel economy of 28.40 km per kg on CNG, while the Prime HB delivers 27.32 km per kg.Also read: M&M overtakes Hyundai and ends up in second place

Both models come equipped with standard safety and convenience features such as six airbags, rear air vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering mounted controls, front and rear power windows, rear parking sensors, rear defogger, central locking, emergency stop signal, three-point seat belts and a company-fitted speed limiter up to 80 kmph. Certain features such as adjustable rear headrests and keyless entry are exclusive to the Prime HB.

Hyundai also offers optional accessories, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a reversing camera and three-year warranty, as well as a vehicle location tracking device with panic buttons.

The Prime HB and Prime SD will be available in three color options: Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black.
