Guehi is nearing the end of his contract with Palace, just as Konate is also nearing the end of his current contract with Liverpool.
Both players are on course to become free agents next summer, although Liverpool are looking to keep Konate with a generous new contract offer.
If the France international decides to move on, you’d imagine Reds fans would be quite happy to see a player of Guehi’s caliber move on a free transfer.
What about Liverpool’s move for Marc Guehi?
As has been widely reported, LFC came close to landing Guehi in the summer before Palace belatedly pulled the plug on the deal.
However, I continue to understand that Guehi is completely sold on the Liverpool project, with the Merseyside giants the favorites to sign him as he also has no intention of signing a new contract at Selhurst Park.
The 25-year-old seems ideal to replace Konate, although one imagines Liverpool would ideally keep the Frenchman and have both players in Arne Slot’s squad next season.

After spending big, Guehi on a free transfer is exactly what Liverpool need
Liverpool’s recent signings haven’t really worked out, with Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Jeremy Frimpong and Milos Kerkez all costing big but struggling at Anfield so far.
It would be somewhat ironic if, after all that spending, a free transfer like Guehi ended up having the most positive impact.
Of course, if Guehi wasn’t so close to the end of his Palace contract he would probably have cost a hefty fee too, but it just goes to show that good business can be done without necessarily just throwing money at the game’s biggest names.
