US President Donald Trump said that he will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska next Friday.
Kremlin Assistant Yury Ushakov confirmed immediately after Moscow and Washington will work to have the Alaska -Top.
“The long -awaited encounter between myself, as president of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, from Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025 in the large state of Alaska,” “ Trump announced on Friday on Truth Social.
According to the Kremlin, the upcoming meeting will run to achieve a long -term peace in the conflict in Ukraine, he added.
Moscow expects that the next meeting of the two leaders will then take place in Russia, said the presidential assistant, according to Tass. Trump was officially sent an invitation, he added.
The special envoy of US President Steve Witkoff visited Moscow on Wednesday for a meeting with Putin who called Trump later “Very productive.” The American leader has pronounced more and more impatient with the pace of peace talks in the Ukraine conflict and has threatened to impose further secondary sanctions on Russian trading partners.
According to the Kremlin, Moscow had one “acceptable” Offer from the US during the visit of Witkoff.
Russia had long said that it was interested in a peaceful solution for the conflict in Ukraine, but has insisted on one that entails a permanent and stable peace.
