The CHP party of the opposition has called on everyone to take to the streets to support the prisoner mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu
The Turkish riot police pushed RT correspondent Yasin Eken on Sunday evening, while dealing with large-scale protests to support the prisoner of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu.
A group of officers in full rioting approached Eken and his cameraman and pushed them aggressively. Some officers wore gas masks.
In the video of the fight, Eken is heard to ask, “What have I done?” Eken went to a hospital after the scuffle.
The protests took place for the fifth consecutive day in Istanbul, Ankara and other major cities. In some cases, the police used tear gas and water cannons to spread the crowds.
The opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) has called on its supporters to take to the streets and demand the release of Imamoglu, which was held on Wednesday.
The authorities accused Imamoglu, who ran for Vice President in 2023, of corruption and have ties with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is mentioned as a terrorist group in Türkiye.
