Eddie Howe spoke last night with the media in St James’ Park, about transfers, our tough summer and jumped to the owner’s defense after a few damn comments about the current Alexander Isak Saga.
Recommendations are essential and quickly necessary, with two strikers, a midfielder and a middle behind. But the club will be able to save what has been a terrible summer so far, unfortunately.
But before we arrive at the transfer update of Howe, the boss was asked about the use of PIF after many interviewed the Saudi project after a lack of signing sessions, stadium updates, new commercial deals or agreements from a new sports director or CEO.
Howe, however, jumped against their defense, and emphasized that they ‘a lot’ to give the project and ‘fight every day’ to give the club success, so that several behind the scenes in the making a few behind the scenes hint after a recent board meetings:
Howe on Saudi owners – “The owners are very involved. As much as they have always been.
“There is a lot going on behind the scenes to help the club move forward. Whether it is stadium or grounds for training.
“These things take time, and there is no quick decision -making process that these things can pass on faster than how long they last!
“I have no control over the details, but I am part of board meetings, with all the talk about the future, and they are very bad here.
“This has been a challenging period and there will be many different opinions on different topics, but me Can anyone assure that they are connected to Newcastle that the owners are very much behind the project and fight every day for the success of the club. “
With incoming transfers, Howe insisted that we are “focused on a number off positions” and “incredibly difficult” work to add new signing sessions to a team with different “holes to fill”.
However, he once again emphasized that we cannot just bring in the wrong players who can ultimately have a negative impact in the long term if we throw away the “high standards” set:
How about transfers – “I am hopeful. But I hope for a few weeks hopeful. We are very happy to be some movement. But it must be the right player, the right price.
“We are focused on a number of positions and a number of players. We still work incredibly difficult to try to add. I think we are one of a number of teams who have found it difficult to get the right players.”
“We are still looking. We are active, and we will be active until we have the team we want – and that is not the case, clear, at the moment, with gaps to fill.”
“The team’s balance is not entirely right. We want to adjust that with signing sessions that we hope to make. But let’s see what happens in the coming weeks.”
“We could sign someone, but if they are not the right fit that can have a very harmful effect for a long time. So we have to hold our high standards and try to get the players who will make a difference.”
Eddie then touched the number of deals that we missed this summer and sheds light on the situation that has pursued us in June, July and August after she tried and unable to land Delap, Pedro, Ekitike and Trafford before Sesko was signed this week.
How to miss goals – “The club has been dynamic and proactive. A lot has been reported. Some very accurate, some not.
“But due to no error of those who work behind the scenes, we have not been able to close any deals that came very close and when we got away from us.
“But every deal can happen until it is signed and sealed. The competition and the small pool of players we have (focused) is very small, so everyone fights for the same players. And we have lost some deals that could have fallen in our way.
“You do a lot of work on every goal, so you have to go back to the drawing board and do it again … while you have it in mind that the (new) player who comes in has to make a positive difference.
“So that process has happened a number of times and we will have to do it again. I have no problems doing it. There are no guarantees, but let’s see what we can do.”
Last but not least offered Howe a positive update about injuries and confirmed that Sven Botman will be back in the team after training without training on Friday morning. Joe Willock, however, will miss:
How in injuries – “Touch Wood, everyone who is fit will play – including Sven Botman, who came today through a training session and looked good.
“Joe Willock is the only one who is missing.”
