Toorak has long been a favorite with buyers looking for luxury homes, but one thing that’s harder to come by is the hotel-like amenity they crave.
It is Melbourne’s most prestigious suburb and land is in tight hands, meaning opportunities for developers to create world-class facilities such as swimming pools, saunas and on-site restaurants are rare.
“We’ve been developing projects in Toorak for almost sixteen years now, and the only thing that has evolved over time is people’s expectations about inclusions and services in buildings,” says Luke McKie, director of Orchard Piper.
To meet these needs, Orchard Piper has an exclusive new residential project underway: One Toorak Place.
It features 43 luxury residences, complemented by concierge and lifestyle amenities that make every day feel like an escape to a six-star hotel.
The offering is enhanced by the addition of two brand new Chris Lucas restaurants on the ground floor.
“The site had one owner for maybe 60 to 70 years before we bought it,” Mr McKie said.
“It was a site large enough and capable enough to accommodate a full range of facilities.”
Design-conscious homes
One Toorak Place embodies a timeless, contemporary style, with architectural design by KHA (Kerry Hill Architects) and landscaping by Myles Baldwyn Design.
Located at 7–11 and 17–19 Carters Avenue, it is on a new private street, creating a real sense of exclusivity.
Internationally recognized for its award-winning work in Asia and Australia, KHA has an architectural background that ensures these homes have both global caliber and enduring local relevance.
“The most important thing we asked of KHA was to ensure we had a building that would stand the test of time,” says Mr McKie.
Quality is visible everywhere, from the stone exterior to the extra spacious home layouts.
Buyers can choose from two, three and four bedroom homes, plus a penthouse.
“They are all apartments on a very large scale,” he says.
Luxury amenities
The approach to amenities at One Toorak Place is to create a leading hotel experience every day.
Features include a 25 meter indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, gym and car and pet wash area.
“We added a golf simulator, which was a facility that was in high demand,” says Mr McKie.
“We have also added a treatment room so people can visit a physiotherapist or other specialist and they have somewhere to go.”
There is a sophisticated guest lounge, ideal for relaxing with a book, and a business center designed for work or holding meetings.
What adds to the experience is the level of maintenance provided by the building services – whether it’s folding towels for the sauna or arranging sun loungers by the pool.
“There is a concierge at the door, so there is a meet & greet with a familiar face.
“There is also security on site,” he said.
Tasty food
Residents who enjoy modern Melbourne dining will enjoy the presence of two restaurants from renowned restaurateur Chris Lucas on the ground floor.
Lucas is behind some of Melbourne’s most acclaimed establishments including Baby, Chin Chin, Grill Americano, Hawker Hall, Kisumé and Maison Bâtard.
He has yet to reveal the kitchens of the two restaurants, but one will focus on evening dinners, the other during the day.
“Residents can arrange in-room dining in the comfort of their own home, or they will be given preferential access to the restaurants if they wish to dine there,” Mr McKie said.
The restaurants will be part of a broader mix of curated retail and commercial suites.
“We are targeting a health and wellness area.”
Village on the rise
One Toorak Place is located in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after neighborhoods: Toorak Village.
With a mix of supermarkets, boutique fashion, beauty services, gift shops, restaurants, cafes and more, the area is cherished by locals.
Mr McKie says the new development is part of an exciting renaissance of the village.
“Toorak Village is now moving forward and we see it changing the way Double Bay in Sydney has changed in recent years,” he says.
“A handful of great new locations will give other people the confidence to take the plunge.”
Reimagining prestige
For buyers who prioritize quality living, hotel-like amenities, modern dining and easy access to shops, cafes and wellbeing services, One Toorak Place ticks every element.
Mr McKie says Orchard Piper has focused exclusively on this market for 16 years, giving the team extensive experience in delivering successful, high-quality developments.
“It is fully serviced, it is incredibly convenient and we are investing to ensure that the lifestyle of Toorak Village is commensurate with the quality of the homes,” he says.
Two-bedroom apartments at One Toorak Place start from $2.85 million, and three-bedroom homes from $4.85 million.
Prices for sub-penthouses and the penthouse are available on request.
