A new strategy for people with opioid user disorder has the potential to transform lives and improve the results, and can become standard practice, thanks to a promising new study led by a doctor in Vancouver.
In the Vancouver General Hospital there see Dr. Jessica tired and her colleagues the losses and they feel the impact of the toxic crisis every day.
“Healthcare providers experience a daily moral need when we witness the devastating social impact of the crisis of the toxic drugs firsthand,” said Moe, who is also the Canada Research Chair in emergency aid on the opioid oversic crisis.
The first aid is a great equalizer.
“We see patients from every part of society here. Opioid user disorder does not discriminate,” said Tired.
It is also the place that was tired that would be the most useful for a clinical study to study the delivery, impact and long -term results of microdosing to initiate buprenorphin treatment for opioid user disorder.
Buprenorphine, sold as a suoxone, is a synthetic opioid and partial opioid agonist who is a proven replacement therapy, because it reduces dependence on other opioids and helps patients to stabilize and have a productive life.
“There is good evidence to support the effectiveness of buprenorphine-naloxon,” said Toe. “It is known that the craving reduces and prevent death. It is an effective treatment.”
