How much protein is too many proteins in the ketogenic diet?

It is a difficult question because you have so many variables.

Age. If the person is 18 to 21 years old, they need more proteins than someone who is 30 years old.

Too low stomach acid. If they don’t have enough sour in the stomach, they don’t have the ability to digest the protein.

Tension. If they are under enormous stress, they will eat a little more proteins.

Metabolism is low. If their metabolism is low, if they have hypothyroidism or another problem, they cannot consume so many proteins because it will overload the liver.

To play sports. When they exercise, they might need a little more. (Don’t do much that you are stressed.)

Dr. Berg has a formula that gives you the upper limit for proteins.

You do not want to go more than this, because too many proteins will repent to insulin and stop your ketosis. Too much protein can also ruin your liver and the kidneys because it is simply too much for the process.

Here is the formula:

Do not eat more than 0.8 times your body weight.

For example, Dr. Berg, which is 6 feet 2 and 195 pounds.

If we take 195 pounds times 0.8, it is equal to 156 grams per day.

If we are shared by 3 for 3 meals that end up at 52 grams of protein per meal.

What does that look like?

Take .8 x body weight distributed by 3 (meals).

8 Ons Chicken – 62 grams

8 ONS Steak – 52 grams

8 ONS Fish 45 grams

See the gram of proteins for chicken, fish and steak below.

Dr. Berg is really good in about 5 grams of proteins, so it cuts this a bit of 8 grams recommended by the formula and eats 6 ounce fish, about 5 grams of chicken or 5 grams of steak.

Here is another example.

Mary is 5 feet 4 and 135 pounds.

If we take 135 pounds times 0.8, it is equal to 108 grams per day.

If we are shared by 3 for 3 meals that end up at 36 grams of protein per meal.

It is not an exact science. You can use the formula, but the best way is to just see how you feel. For example, is your energy high? If your diet is not enough proteins, you will be tired. Check how you feel to get that sweet spot. Everyone is different. You may feel that you need higher and lower amounts of proteins. Find your sweet place.

This blogger could be the carb counter that Dr. Berg did not find it. I used Carb Manager and came up with something different songs for the protein in the same food. I think the point is to have a consistent way to calculate them. As soon as you know the estimated physical size of the food, ie 8 our steak, you no longer have to look it up.

Here a link to the carbohydrate law that I used.

Carb Manager is the most extensive and easiest to use net and total carbohydrate counter
