Ozzie Albies did not have a good season 2025-after leaving the game on Monday evening with a seasonal Hamate bone injury, he ends with 1.3 Fwar. That brand is not the result of remarkable inputs underperformance in attack, and his defense has been reduced in the under average range. Although his battle was picked up in the second half of the season, it is actually just driven by a strong three weeks in September:
What Ozzie Albies has Ready is, well, playing in every game he was able to play this season and in his career.
The Braves will be at all kinds of intersections as soon as the season ends. The albies injury adds another … something to that intersection. Maybe it’s a different way, maybe it’s a tumbleweed, maybe it’s a lemonade stand.
Even before Albies was hurt, it seemed pretty clear to me that if the Braves chose the “something other than business as usual” path forward for 2026 and beyond, they’d need to bring in a guy capable of starting full-time at second base as a handcuff in case Albies plays like his 2024-2025 Self in 2026. Now that albies has goths hurt, that need seems ever greater – While the recovery period for a hamate bone injury is only about six week, it anecdotic juice that touches the production and is theoretized to do so for some types of rocks, it is no more).
So I walk back to his playing time. How much will he be in 2026? Another full -time season? A roll with short platoon? Nothing, because the Braves do not pick up his option (I don’t see this happening). Something else?
