Earlier, investigators said the couple, who had lived together for two years, were drinking late Sunday before an argument broke out over a wet towel, the suspect, Lunjeana Pamai, said during the preliminary investigation.
Knowledge Park police in Greater Noida arrested Pamai, accused of the murder of the South Korean citizen, on Monday after initial investigation.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the dispute between the victim, Duck Jee Yuh, and the woman started over a wet towel.
Duck’s towel was wet, which made him angry. He also verbally abused the suspect. The argument escalated to the point that the woman attacked him with a kitchen knife.
The knife pierced his chest and reached his heart. The police handed Duck’s body over to the embassy after conducting the autopsy.
Duck, a resident of Cheongju, South Korea, had been living on rent in an ATS Paysage Hideways Society flat in Sector 150, Noida for the past two years.
He worked as a branch manager at a private mobile company. He had met the accused woman, Lunjeena Pamai, from Bishnupur district, Manipur, in Gurugram. Later they started living together by mutual consent.
According to police, the incident happened late Saturday evening, around 2 a.m. The dispute had started earlier over the wet towel. The woman had come out of the bathroom after bathing and accidentally used the victim’s towel.
This angered Duck, who kept his towel aside. He verbally abused the woman, which upset her, and she began to leave the flat with a bag.
During interrogation, the woman told police that the deceased had taken a kitchen knife to stop her. Both were drunk.
The woman grabbed the knife and attacked her partner. Examination revealed one stab wound to the left side of his chest. The wound was deep and reached close to the heart, causing his death.
The post-mortem report confirmed that the cause of death was the stab wound. Police said the body was handed over to the embassy after the autopsy.
