Tampa, Fla.-Jonathan Aranda hit a three-run Homer and Danny Jansen added a two-run shot while the Tampa Bay Rays extended their winning series to six games with a 7-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Zack Littell (4-5) allowed three hits by six Shutoutinings. He left with one in the seventh after he had hit Ty France with his 72nd throw. Carlos Correa followed a two-run Homer and pulled the twins within 3-2.
Kody Funderburk, the only left-handed reliever in the twins, was emptied with one in the eighth and the bases and allowed back-to-back singles to Aranda and Curtis Mead. A two-out two-run double from José Caballero and Jansen’s celebrated Homer brought the score to 7-2.
Aranda broke a scoreless draw into the sixth inning and hit a 1-2 throw from Minnesota-Reliever Brock Stewart 365 feet to the right field for a 3-0 lead. Twins Starter Chris Paddock moves through five innings before he left with one in the sixth after Brandon Lowe had excited a single and doubled Junior Caminero.
Littell, who lost his first five starts this season, allowed one point on three hits in 6⅓ innings. Manuel Rodríguez and Mason Montgomery each threw a scoreless inning to close it.
Paddock (2-5) stood up two points in 5⅓ innings on five hits. Funderburk switched off two batters and allowed four runs to six hits.
Brandon Lowe went 2 to 4 and expanded his battle line to nine games for the Rays (27-26). Curtis Mead went in mind immediately after 1 to 4.
The twins (29-24) dropped the opener of a journey of 10 games. Minnesota is 16-4 in the last 20 games.
