On Thursday, two minor suspects, ages 12 and 13, were charged in connection with the brutal rape of a 12-year-old girl in Miami.
The two suspects, Jusiah Jones and Nelson Nunez, will be charged as adults.
A third suspect, 15-year-old Xavier Tyson, was also arrested and charged in connection with the rape.
Authorities say the 12-year-old victim was walking home from a friend’s house last June when Nunez grabbed her and forced her onto a couch while Jones stuffed rocks in her mouth to keep her from screaming as Nunez raped her.
The rape suspects only stopped the brutal attack, which lasted more than 30 minutes, after hearing the girl’s father shout her name.
Nunez is charged with kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor. Tyson was charged with sexual battery, false imprisonment and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
Jones also faces felony charges and false imprisonment.

Miami police say a group of boys took a 12-year-old girl to a community garden in the city’s Overtown neighborhood while one of them raped her for 30 minutes.
Authorities said Jusiah Jones, 12, pushed rocks into the girl’s mouth so she couldn’t scream while Nelson Nunez, 13, sexually assaulted her.
A third boy, Xavier Tyson, is also accused of participating; he was 14 at the time.
While police arrested them the next day on juvenile charges, all three are now charged as adults following a grand jury indictment issued Wednesday. Court records show they were booked into the Metrowest Detention Center on Thursday and that Jones and Nunez appeared in adult court on Friday, where a judge ordered them held without bond.
It was initially believed that Tyson, now 15, was charged solely as a juvenile, but Miami-Dade prosecutors confirmed that afternoon that he was also charged with adult charges.
