The Charlotte Hornets will retire Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey on March 19, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Curry, the 1994 Sixth Man of the Year, ranks second in franchise history in points and played 10 of his 16 NBA seasons in Charlotte from 1988 to 1998.

He has spent 27 years with the Hornets organization, including 17 seasons as a TV analyst, and currently serves as a team ambassador.

Hornets owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin made the decision to honor Curry to strengthen the organization’s ties to its history and legends of the past.

Dell Curry is also the father of NBA stars Stephen and Seth Curry, further cementing his influence on the game and the legacy of the Hornets.

During his career at Charlotte, Curry was known for his sharpshooting, helping the team establish a competitive identity in the 1990s.

The Hornets currently have a record of 14-26, ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference, and continue to build around a young roster while celebrating the franchise’s past.
