“It is difficult to put into words how much this sport has given me,” said Pearne-Webb.
“What started when a dream when I was only eight years old – to play for my country at the Olympic Games one day – became a journey that was bigger than everything I could have imagined.
“One of the biggest awards has been led to England and Groot -Britain in the last six years. It has been a huge privilege to break this team at two Olympic Games and a home commonwealth games has been a huge privilege.
“Walking the team in Paris last summer, for friends and family, was a really special moment and one that I will never forget.”
Pearne-Webb collected 274 combined caps, including performances at three Olympic Games.
Five years after the score of the gold medal-winning goal in Rio, Pearne-Webb supplied GB to another Olympic stage when they defeated India 4-3 to win bronze in Tokyo.
A year later she led the women of England to a first Commonwealth Games -Gold and beat Australia in the final in Birmingham.
Great Britain reached the quarterfinals at the Paris competitions last year and lost to the final champions in the Netherlands.
“I will always be proud that I have worn the shirt, and I will always be a supporter of the incredible players who come through,” said Pearne-Webb.
“Hockey has shown me that everything is possible – and I am grateful for that forever.
“Thanks, hockey. It has been the honor of your life. “
