Only twice before in the long history of first-class cricket had a batsman smashed six sixes in a single over – first by Sir Garry Sobers in 1968 and then by Ravi Shastri in the 1984-85 Ranji Trophy. On a lively Saturday in Surat, Akash Kumar Choudhary, Meghalaya’s 25-year-old power hitter, signed his name alongside these greats.
