Hincapie + Calafiori: Arsenal injury latest for FPL Gameweek 22

Mikel Arteta said there “might” be a chance someone on his Arsenal injury list could play on Saturday.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference, it will either be that way Piero Hincapie (muscle), Riccardo Calafiori (muscle), Max Dowman (single) or Cristhian Mosquera (single).

“It could be. So I have to meet with the medical staff now – we have a training session now – and see if anyone is available for the weekend. I can’t tell you because I don’t know.” – Mikel Arteta on whether there is any chance of any of his injured players returning in Gameweek 22

Given that the head coach only said on Tuesday that Calafiori, Dowman and Mosquera were still looking “weeks” ahead, we assume Hincapie is the one closest to a recovery. That will please the Ecuadorian’s Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners.

He did confirm there were no new Arsenal injury concerns following the midweek EFL Cup win over Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Arteta was asked if he needed to think a few games in advance because the schedule is so intense.

“Well, in certain things yes, and especially looking at the opponent and the things that we can train and that we can replicate in those matches. Sometimes ideally we want to plan: ‘Okay for this match, we think this player could be better and the load’, and other times it’s just impossible and you have to take it match by match. We now have more players back, we have better options and that is very useful because we have obviously given playing time to almost every player.” – Mikel Arteta
