Himachal CM Sukhu sends permanent action against developers for unnecessary delay in hydropower projects

Taking a fixed attitude, the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu On Saturday (21 June 2025) the power department of the State instruct to give the cancellation message to non-serious Hydro-Power developers, whose projects have been standing still for years.

Chairman of a high -level meeting of energy sharing on Saturday, the minister president claimed that unnecessary delay in project implementation causes considerable losses for the treasury. “Hydro -power is the mainstay in the economy of the state and the state government is dedicated to ensure that the benefits reach with the population of the state. The government is dedicated to protect the interests of the people of the state on multiple platforms and forums,” he said.

Mr Sukhu also repeated that the state government will not continue with the upcoming projects such as Kishau and Renuka Dam, unless the adjacent States offer to arrange the long concrete guarantees pending overdue overdue payments from Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).

The Chief Minister dedicated the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) to complete the commissioning of the Kaza Solar Power Project by August 2025 and to speed up the One MW Solar Power Project with batterybackup in Dhanwas in the Remote Pangi Valley of Chaamba. This project is expected to be completed in December 2025, which is expected to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply to the valley, even during heavy snowfall.

Mr Sukhu also assessed the progress of the ‘Green Panchayat scheme’ and indicated to accelerate the projects during the meeting, said an official statement.
