This is perhaps the best game on paper for the rest of the season of Atlanta Braves, because their only remaining quality starter in Spencer Strider encounters against flaming Rookie Chase Burns at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is really a nice pitching -matchup and is the highest presence game in the MLB history. We will be treated to unique uniforms with racing theme and a unique setting that will certainly have a number of surprises.
Spencer Strider was a bit shaky, but hit his pass (not meant playing puncture) and has found a way to be very effective despite a moderately exhausted (but still totally fine) speed. His XFIP season is 3.73, but he is much better than that since the beginning of June. This level of success is quite remarkable, because 90% of its throws is still more four -far or a slider. For him to still find this level of success as almost a two pitch -world, even at a reduced speed, is quite unusual and impressive.
Chase Burns for the Reds has been a really nice rookie, even if Babip Luck has absolutely blown up his era to 6.26 due to his first 27.1 innings, even while he rocks an impressive 2.54 XFIP and 3.02 FIP FIP. It is not a mystery why Burns received the highest signing bonus in 2024 MLB concept From Wake Forest, because he has extremely loud, explosive things from the right side. Burns actually shares some similarities with Vintage Spencer Strider, because more than 90% of his throws are four -far and hard shear controller. While his extension is more average than the Elite of Strider, his Fastball is an average of 98.3 mph and its sliding controller on average 90.3, so that a ridiculous 44% hint is generated in the Majors. He occasionally sprinkles changes and curveball, but is generally also a pitcher with two pitch. That explosive stuff has resulted in a huge speed of 14.82 k/9, although walks can be a bit of a challenge for the right one, at 3.95 BB/9. With regard to the comparison with Strider, Burns is a little bigger, with more a traditional jug body than Spencer and has a more vertical delivery, with an extra 10 degrees on his arm angle.
Although the vibes are extremely low to Braves fans, this should be a real treat of a competition this Saturday.
