The largest two-wheeler maker in the country, which has recently exceeded 125 million milestone of unit production, expects the GST rate to stimulate question on two-wheelers and compensate for the loss of sale in the period prior to the most important tax reform.
“It is probably the best macro environment we have had in a long time, and it should fructify in much better figures than the industry expected earlier,” said Hero Motocorp Chief Business Officer Ashutosh Varma PTI in an interaction.
The industry for the first five months was largely flat, and that is why the expectations were a bit muted prior to GST nationalization, he added.
“There has been a postponement of the purchase that should largely manifest itself during the Navratri period. But we have a strong booking pipeline … It is an exciting time to be inside. I think it should be one of the best we had (festive period),” noted Varma.

Further work out, he stated that even without the GST reforms the company expected to grow better than the industry on the back of existing products and upcoming new launches.
“Now I think it is a double advantage. We have a whole series of new products that are available. I mean, 12 products from us, which will see the festive season for the first time, the overall positive macro, we have to grow for industry,” said Varma.
Asked for the preservation of leadership in the domestic two-wheeler industry, he stated: “We are clear leaders. According to the VAHAN data until August, we are at the forefront of the first five months ourselves with almost two Lakh units. And I mean, we never lost leadership in this way.
“And we are convinced that with what will come out in the future, this gap will only get bigger, and we will close the year strongly, clearly as leaders again before 2025,” Varma added.
Hero Motocorp has sold a total of 54.45.251 units in FY25 to lead the two -wheeler space. Rivalization Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India took second place with the sale of 47,89,283 units.
Varma said that the company is looking at the growing of its Core 100 CC segment, which expands in the 125 cc room and scooters while the game in the premium is reinforced vertically.
