Overview
A full-size, three-row SUV is coming to the Audi range and will reportedly be called the Q9. It is expected to ride on the same platform as the next generation of the mid-size Q7 SUV, but Audi has yet to reveal any details about the new flagship.
Rumors are circulating online that seating for six across three rows will be standard, meaning there will be captain’s chairs in the second row. A late 2026 or early 2027 debut is likely, with sales beginning shortly thereafter. A sportier S9 variant may also be in the cards.
Expert tip: If you can’t wait for the Q9’s launch to buy your next three-row luxury crossover, consider Audi’s future rivals like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, which are on sale now.
What’s new for 2028?
When the Q9 goes on sale, which we expect to happen as a 2028 model, it will be an entirely new model and nameplate for the Audi brand.

Prices and which ones to buy
Audi hasn’t released any details about the Q9 yet, including any hints at pricing or trims. But we expect to see Audi’s traditional Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels on the new SUV and a starting price higher than the Q7’s current $64,000 base MSRP.
