Bam Adebayo scored 18 points, while Pelle Larsson and Davion Mitchell each scored 16 for Miami, which surpassed the 140-point mark for the fourth time this season, matching the total of such games over the past seven seasons combined.
Miami, which finished the game with an average of 124.8 points per game, the best in the NBA this season, led by 41 points in the closing minutes. That was the second-largest lead of the season for the Heat and the largest deficit for the Bulls (the previous was 25 against New York on November 2).
Ayo Dosunmu scored 23 points for Chicago, which got 19 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists from Josh Giddey. Jalen Smith scored 14 for the Bulls.
The Heat moved to 2-1 in NBA Cup play, a half-game behind Milwaukee (2-0) for the lead in East Group C. Chicago (1-2 in Cup play) fell to fourth in the division, a half-game behind New York and a half-game ahead of Charlotte.
Chicago opened the game with an 18-11 run in the first five and a half minutes, but Miami controlled the rest of the game. A 53-21 Heatburst gave Miami a 25-point lead at the end of the first half, and the margin was never closer than 14 again.
The Bulls lost Kevin Huerter in the third quarter after he waved the ball in frustration following a foul. The ball bounced off referee Che Flores’ back leg and Huerter was sent off the field.
Chicago also saw Matas Buzelis (right ankle) and Dalen Terry (left calf) go out with injuries.
