There has been some mixed news in the field of injuries today, while we are going on Sunday with Nottingham Forest and the coming international break.
The return of Yoane Wissa was postponed until the beginning of November, Jacob Ramsey could be back in the team this weekend and the absence of eight weeks of Tino Livramento was confirmed.
But a player Eddie Howe discussed extensively in this morning’s press conference, Lewis Hall, who was called to the England under-21 next to Lewis Miley today.
The left-wing Back started back-to-back matches against Bournemouth and Bradford last month, but was omitted against Arsenal outside the team and came late in the 4-0 victory of Wednesday at Union SG.
Howe has explained why he needs time to rebuild himself and says: “Lewis has been a bit more complex. We just try to make him feel comfortable in his body again. We have to follow his work.”
Asked if he could start against Forest this weekend offered Howe a mixed reaction, which suggests that he is available, but is still rebuilding to “100%” to make him feel robust enough to play regularly:
“He will be available (to begin with). But Lewis has had a few small things in his body where he did not feel 100% well,” said Howe.
“So we have to try to get him back who felt robust enough, as he was before his injury, to play regularly. At that moment he looked physically great, and sometimes we forget how young he is, so we have to take care of him.
“He will come to that phase where it is able to play fluently again and take the load no problem. Even with the schedule we have, I see a time when he can play all the games he wants to play. But he has to play well.”
Earlier this year, Hall broke a bone in his foot and was operated on in February, and saw him miss the last part of the 2024/25 season and much of the preseason.
